We Are Made New

In the movie, The Passion Of The Christ, there is a scene…. Oh this scene…. It gets me every time! Mary is broken-hearted… She has watched her son be savagely tortured and mocked and now he’s being beaten non-stop while carrying his cross, on his way to be crucified. He keeps falling (all the while being repeatedly whipped) and she flashes back to him falling as a child and her being there to help him up and kiss the pain away. This is how she sees him now… Her little boy is falling and being hurt over and over again and it’s absolutely tearing up her mama-heart…. And she can do absolutely nothing! In the midst of this, he says to her, “See Mother! I make all things new!” He knew he was on his way to sacrifice his life so that I/we could be made new! That absolutely wrecks me every time!!! My mama-heart relates to Mary’s plight (hard enough, right?) and then He says he’s making me new!!! My heart becomes so overwhelmed at that point with gratitude that I can barely breathe!! Our God is so good that he bore all of the burden of our sin and shame so that we could be made new!

2 Cor. 5:17 TPT Now, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new person. All that is related to the old order has vanished. Behold, everything is fresh and new.

Rom. 8:1 TPT So now the case is closed. There remains no accusing voice of condemnation against those who are joined in life-union with Jesus, the Anointed One.

Col. 2:13-14 TPT This “realm of death” describes our former state, for we were held in sin’s grasp. But now, we’ve been resurrected out of that “realm of death” never to return, for we are forever alive and forgiven of all our sins! He canceled out every legal violation we had on our record and the old arrest warrant that stood to indict us. He erased it all- our sins, our stained soul- he deleted it all and they cannot be retrieved! Everything we once were in Adam has been placed onto his cross and nailed permanently there as a public display of cancellation.

When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we enter into life-union with Him! Our sentence for our crimes weren’t just reduced… they were completely cancelled!! This amazes and humbles me. I thank God that he didn’t do this based on whether or not we “deserve it”. He did it because he loves us, his children. Period.

1 John 3:1 AMP See what an incredible quality of love the Father has shown to us, that we could (be permitted to) be named and called and counted the children of God! And so we are! For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

Thank you, Jesus, for making us new!
