Stop Hiding The Ugly So Others May See The Beauty

This week I heard two different things that really spoke to me… but both centered around the same subject.

  1. Better hide that sin… no one needs to know about that one!

  2. Cover those scars! That story is ugly and shameful!

Why do we do that?? Don’t we know that others have “ugly” in their life too? If God brought you through it, don’t you think it’s important to share your testimony so that others can see the beauty God made out of your ashes? Your life has not been perfect! Tell them! Be open and honest! So what if you cry? So what if they cry hearing it? Tears are healing! Shared sorrow can lead to beautiful healing… to redemption… to the breaking of chains and the breaking of generational curses!

Be real. Be authentic. Be relatable! Tell them about the ashes of your life so you can then tell them about the God who turned those ashes into beauty! Tell them how He carried you when you had no strength left!

Exodus 15:2 The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

Isaiah 61:3 tells us that he’ll give beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.

Psalm 30:11 You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever.

Jeremiah 31:13 says I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.

Tell them about the one true God! Send them straight into the arms of Jesus! Show them the ugly… and may they see the beauty!
