Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick; who can understand it?
All through scripture the Lord tells us to be humble and not boast about ourselves, but we all do it at times. The enemy is constantly telling us to lie, be prideful, or tell us we are better than someone else. The more we believe the enemy, the more it becomes like a waterfall of lies and deceit. We start to judge others and their faults and put ourselves on a pedestal above them. We start to believe that we are getting away with things like treating our spouse bad, being perverse in our thoughts, being deceitful towards others, being selfish.... We start believing that we are better than others.
Obadiah 1:3-4 The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rocks and make your home on the heights, you who say to yourself, who can bring me down to the ground? Though you soar like the eagle and make your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down, declares the Lord.
James 4:10 Humble yourself before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
We must ask God for forgiveness and repent of our sins and ask him to stop the waterfall that we started. Open your heart and your ears and listen to what Dad is telling us and change your heart and your ways. He will humble us and show us the way if we are willing to make the changes.
Isaiah 2:12 The Lord almighty has a day in store for all the proud and lofty, for all that is exalted (and they will be humbled)
Jeremiah 9:23 This is what the Lord says: Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches.
Stop and ask Dad if you make him proud because he is the only one that matters. Don't jump to conclusions and judgement. Stop and ask the Holy Spirit what you should say or do. He will give you the answer if you will wait and listen for it. It will be a daily battle and the enemy won't give up trying to take you away from what's right and away from the father. He wants you to fail and give up on God because he knows that he can't win! We will fail, but don't give up because of it! Keep going back to Dad for help! He is a forgiving God and he won't give up on us! GOD IS GREAT!!!
Philippians 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.
Proverbs 11:2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
